ACGME-Accredited Fellowship
Pathway Purpose

This pathway is intended for physicians who have completed an ACGME-accredited fellowship program of at least 24 months in Medical Toxicology that is acceptable to the ABPM.

Board Certification

Yes, primary certification from ABPM (Other diplomates should apply through ABEM).

Fellowship Full-time fellowship in the subspecialty area. The fellowship may only be used to fulfill the criteria of one subspecialty.

The following is a list of documents and verifications that the applicant will need to gather in order to apply.

If 24 months past fellowship completion date, yes.

Board Certification Verification Primary certification from an ABMS member board. ABPM will confirm your certification status after you apply.

Fellowship Verification Program director will be notified to verify fellowship completion electronically. Alternatively, the applicant may upload a signed verification form.

Yes

Letters of Reference Letter of reference from a physician who is certified by the American Board of Medical Specialties and can attest to the applicant’s experience in the specialty area for which the certification is being sought. Reference writer will be notified to complete letter electronically. Alternatively, applicant may upload letter signed by reference writer.

If 24 months past fellowship completion date, 1 letter.

Total practice years refers to the amount of practice time in the specialty area for which certification is being sought.
