Overview
As part of Phase Two of the new Continuing Certification Program (CCP), scheduled to launch on January 1, 2025, and to continue through December 31, 2029, all current time-limited Diplomates Certified in a Specialty or Subspecialty of the ABPM will be required to participate in the extended Longitudinal Assessment Program (LAP) pilot.
The ABPM will offer the LAP pilot online, allowing Diplomates to answer questions from their own computer at their convenience. Diplomates will answer 30 Specialty/Subspecialty questions annually. Diplomates with multiple ABPM Certifications must participate in the LAP for each Certificate.
Diplomates may consult books and resources during the assessment, consistent with how physicians practice medicine in today’s environment. There will be no time limit within which a Diplomate must respond to individual LAP questions; however, after opening a question, a Diplomate must answer the question. Closing the question/browser window prior to submitting an answer will result in the response being marked as incorrect.
ABPM will share information about participation in the LAP pilot with Diplomates by email. To ensure you receive communications regarding the LAP, please make sure your contact information is accurate and up-to-date in your Physician Portal account.
