Individuals who are beyond their 7 year period of eligibility must fulfill the following requirements before they will be allowed to take the certification examination:
1. Unrestricted license
All medical licenses the physician holds in the United States, US territories, or Canada must be active, valid and unrestricted.
2. 75 hours of ABPM-approved lifelong learning self-assessment (LLSA)
75 hours of LLSA activity must be completed in the 3 years prior to application for the certification examination. A complete listing of available credits can be found https://www.theabpm.org/moc/modules.cfm
3. Assessment of Practice Performance
The physician must complete an Assessment of Practice Performance through one of the three Preventive Medicine specialty societies. The Assessment of Practice Performance must be in the Preventive Medicine specialty area in which eligibility is being sought and must be completed in the 3 years prior to application for the certification examination. 4. Clinical Currency
The physician must have been engaged in essentially full-time training for, or practice in, the specialty area for which certification is being sought for at least two of the last five years.
