    Clinical Informatics Eligibility Requirements

    ACGME-Accredited Fellowship Pathway
    Pathway PurposeThis pathway is open to physicians who have completed a 24-month (or longer) ACGME-accredited fellowship in Clinical Informatics.
    Board CertificationCurrent primary specialty certification through an ABMS Member Board, the American Osteopathic Association (AOA), the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada (RCPSC), or the College of Family Physicians of Canada (CFPC)
    Note: American Board of Pathology (ABPath) Diplomates should apply for the Clinical Informatics certification exam through ABPath.

    FellowshipCompletion of a 24-month ACGME-accredited Clinical Informatics fellowship

    Applicants should gather the following documents and verifications when they apply.

    CV/ResumeRequired only if applying between 24 months and seven years after completing fellowship.1
    Board Certification VerificationRequired
    Graduate Coursework TranscriptN/A
    Graduate Program CurriculumN/A
    Practice and Training VerificationN/A
    Fellowship VerificationRequired
    Letters of ReferenceOne letter, required only if applying between 24 months and seven years after completing fellowship.1 The letter must be written by a physician who is certified by an ABMS member board, the AOA, the RCPSC, or the CFPC, and who can attest to the applicant’s experience in Clinical Informatics.

    1If applying more than seven years after completing fellowship, please see ABPM’s Policy for Re-entry.
